San Juan River

Fishing is picking up with the warming weather, but so are the flows. Discolored water can cause fish to move to bigger nymphs such as stoneflies, worms, or cranefly larva. Fish closer to the banks
Streamer fishing is good this time of year too.

Patterns/Bugs:
Nymphs: Prince nymphs 12-16, Pats Rubberlegs 4-8 or Jigged Pats 8-12, Black and Copper Copper Johns 12-16, 20 Incher 10-14, Deep Cleaner Nymph 10.
Streamers: Skullybugger, Dungeons, Sparkle Minnows,

Flows have been dropped to about 350 and the water clarity is getting better every day. Fishing has also been picking up quite a bit with better bug hatches. Midges and baetis have been more active and fish are moving to eat. Nymph fishing will be primary, but it never hurts to have a few dries, especially on cloudy days. Streamer fishing is better than you may expect earlier in the morning

Midge Dries: Griffith Gnat 18-22, Bunny Midge 20-24.
BWO Nymphs: Foam Wing RS-2s 20-24, Killer May 20-24, Juans Sniper Baetis 22-24, Juans Jedi Master 22-24, Juans Olive Slim Shady 20-24.
Annelids in 18-22. San Juan Worms
Streamers such as Baby Rainbow Trout, Hawkins Triple Double Bow, Heisenberg Streamer, White or Olive Dungeons.
